Posted on November 15 2009 by Paul Smith . Sarah Palin finally dishes up the goods on the failed Campaign.
I tend not to follow political events that have no bearing on me or the future of the country. So I have pretty much ignored the flap between Palin and McCain until now. But I will weigh in on some key issues that I think are relevant and why I believe McCain and his political strategist Steve Schmidt need to shut the hell up.
McCain lost and will no longer lead this country in any way shape or form. Palin may still and will be a force in this country whether you like her or not. Had it not been for Palin’s addition to the ticket in 2008, McCain wouldn’t even made it to the back page of the weekly reader.
One of the areas the McCain campaign lost the race is detailed
here.
They completely ignored the under 30 demographic and I for one got sick of his “drunken sailor ” joke after about the 10th time. He never connected with this demographic and could never distance himself to being a Bush clone that Obama hammered him on daily. I lay that one on Steve Schmidt’s desk as he never was able to counter that and basically let Obama describe McCain to the nation not McCain creating his own image.
When I ran for Congress in 2008 I would be on these Republican phone calls that only the candidates and some big time Republican would be on advising us what was important and how to go after our opponent. The number one compliant voiced by all of the candidates in California was the lack of the McCain organization to include the Republican candidate in the function when he was in town for a fundraiser.
We were shut out and never even contacted to help us get a little face time, a photo-op or recognition to help our campaign. It got so bad that the questioner asked all of us on the phone if we all had the same sentiments and it was unanimous. This complaint was heard all up and down the state.
McCain’s campaign was elitist, and distant to the very folks that he needed the most; it’s no wonder he couldn’t connect with the voters. Even after I won my primary McCain, came to town for a fundraiser that was held in my district and I didn’t even get a phone call and either did any of the other down ticket folks. Even a opportunity to have a picture or a “shout out” at the fundraiser would have raised my standing in the area 1000%.
Thanks for nothing McCain!
We were put off by this and I had no desire to campaign for McCain after he snubbed me. And I am not the only one who has similar views. You want folks to “bust-butt” for you, you better take 30-seconds and show them a little respect. I hope the Governors that are running figure this out.
Palin complains that Steve Schmidt told her what to eat, say and dress. McCain’s folks admit that they were worried about Palin’s weight-loss. So the truth is somewhere in the middle. But if you put Palin and chain smoking and rotund Steve Schmidt next to each other, Steve needs to look in the mirror before dishing out information on dieting and nutrition.
McCain and Schmidt lost the race and have been trying to convince the rest of us it was Palin’s fault to cover their butts and I for one have had enough with their antics.
Your strategy didn’t work, you lost, McCain suspended his campaign, ( and hurt his standing), and so help me we better have someone else run a campaign in 2012 besides Schmidt or we will look like dinosaurs again! Schmidt’s grand strategy at the precinct level was for all of us to make phone calls.
Obama meanwhile was reaching 12 million voters a pop by sending out text messages to those that signed up to get them and got campaign contributions by having folks donate $5.00 by using their cell phones. The charges were added to their phone bill so one text message could generate up to $60 million dollars.
Obama had a cadre of YouTubers sending out and McCain was making jokes about learning how to use e-mail. Stupid. Wake up and get with the times.
What a failed strategy and I for one am not afraid to speak out and tell the Republican elite to get the heck out of town and put some people in charge that get it.
I am sure the McCain camp is going to try and look like they were the good guys and Palin’s book is false and self serving. I frankly don’t care. McCain lost and somehow still thinks he could have won without Palin. McCain and Schmidt need top wake-up, quite trying to shovel your load of garbage to the rest of us and come to grips that YOU LOST!
Why don’t you pay attention to what going on in the country and learn from your mistakes and don’t let it happen again. Trying to justify why Palin is to blame for the loss and cheap, disingenuous and shows the lack of character you men possess.
Shut-up, leave town, and let those that are able to figure out how to win a race step forward. Your presence hurts our cause. Its time to put some winners in the mix, and you two are not on anybody’s list anymore. News flash…you are irrelevant and we couldn’t care less what you have to say.
Its time for the Republican party to modernize, use technology, and start reaching the under 30 age voter in a huge way. Newsflash Steve Schmidt, the under 30 group don’t have home phones anymore, just cell phones. I will never participate in phone banking as this is a sure fire way to waste time and lose a race. It’s time to start texting, Instant Messaging (Internet Messaging) using Facebooking, holding Internet Townhall Meetings and utilizing YouTube.
I don’t ever want to see stat-sheets that post who makes the most calls. It didn’t work in 2008 and is sure as hell won’t work in 2010 or 2012 with you running things.
So let me be perfectly clear here. McCain and Schmidt; close your mouth, step aside, and let someone that knows what their doing takeover. PERIOD!
